Some of the earliest memories I have of art stems from my grandmother, she collected a variety of art and I would sometimes go with her to pick up items she found and bought. When I was twelve I wanted to learn how to sew and create my own garments, my grandmother would take me to different thrift stores and fabric stores to pick what I liked. I would recreate looks and add my own twist with bleach, paint, embellishments, and patches. I also would help my grandfather in his workshop, he is a retired carpenter. He would build unique pieces of furniture and I would help him paint them. He would sometimes build me small pieces of furniture for my room - along with mirrors and frames, then he would let me be creative and decorate them how I like. Both of my grandparents have a huge influence on my love for art. Art has always been therapeutic to me, it brings comfort and sets my mind at ease.
